Dr. Ashley Chauvin, ND believes the patient should be at the centre of health care.  All of their health care providers should strive to work together in order to support them.  Ashley is very open to working with other health care providers including oncologists, surgeons, traditional Chinese doctors, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, therapists, and other allied health professionals.  Patient treatment goals are most often met when all members of the health-care team strive to work together.

Dr. Ashley ND understands the importance of the relationship between the patient and the medical oncology team.  She also has found that most oncologists are open to discussing treatment approaches with him when they understand the evidence supporting the treatments being recommended.  Ashley takes particular care to ensure that naturopathic recommendations do not negatively interfere with conventional treatments.

Integration also applies to to the integration of specific treatments.  As more and more research is done in the areas of nutrition, herbal medicine, supplements, and stress reduction the scientific community is finding that many naturopathic therapies have the capacity to enhance the efficacy of chemotherapeutic agents, radiation, and other targeted therapies.  Dr. Ashley Chauvin ND believes that an effective integrated plan brings together treatments that together are greater than the sum of their parts.

For many people actively undergoing treatment, toxic side-effects can be debilitating.  For some, these side-effects can be so severe that the potentially life-saving treatment they are receiving needs to be stopped.  The power of integrating other treatment approaches is potentially most profound in these cases because the patient will have increased tolerance of these powerful conventional treatments.  Two of the most important therapies that help reduce the side effects of chemotherapy are intravenous vitamin C and mistletoe extracts.
